Starting university whether you're 18, 21 or 41 is a scary thing. It is said to be the best years of your life but as I prepare myself (and my liver) for my first week at uni, I can't help feeling anxious and a little lost.
Oh my god, what if they don't like me? What if I've forgotten how to write an essay? What if I get lost? What if I can't do the coursework? Oh bloody hell, Katie, get a grip!
I'm going to be honest, I have no idea what I'm getting myself in for. But hey, I'm taking you all with me!
Over this past week I've realised the importance of organisation before the classes even begin.
Get all your notebooks and planners!
I always find that new stationary really motivates me and keeps everything in order.
Use Facebook!
Love it or hate it but social media is here to stay and has been the best way for me to find out information on the Freshers page. I also found out who was in my course and spoke to a few folk in my class. It really helps and puts nerves at ease. I know that when I was freaking out, I could see so was everyone else. So I wasn't alone.
Work out your time table.
Get your head around the fact that you won't be in 5 days a week, like school, and you will be sitting in lectures. So if you had time between school and uni. Brace yourself.
Take a walk around the university.
If you can, go to the uni before your first lecture so you have an idea of where your going. Don't want to be late for your first class!
Think of outfits!
This one might just be for me, but I have put 5 outfits together. I'm the one who gets that buzz when I make a really good outfit and feel on top of the world.
Most importantly, deep breaths!! Don't panic! Keep calm and carry on! I have so many different ways to say "chill the fuck out" but I can't stress it enough! Because I am one big mess and you're not the only one so don't freak out. (That's a note to self).
If you're going onto uni, good luck and let me know how you get on too! Keep an eye out for more #studentlife posts as I go through my first year of university. First lecture on Tuesday!
Wow. Things just got v real.
Until next time
Lovely post! I also like to organize my outfits in advance - it saves so much time!
