Little Tips For An Edinburgh Summer

The city of Edinburgh is the place to be this summer. Although the sun seems to have forgotten about us, there are still so many things to do. With the International Film Festival, Fashion Festival and of course the Fringe Festival all going on; I have a 5 tips for you to enjoy our Scottish  summer in the capital.

1: Spend time in the Old Town.
It is picturesque and have everything you need. The little shops along Cockburn Street are quirky and you can find some great treasures. Pie In The Sky sell a mix between vintage and modern with a chess board for the shoppers who need a break. At the moment they are selling some super cute retro style playsuits which are fantastic for when we do get the hot weather (any day now).

2. Grab a souvenir.
There seems to be an unlimited supply of shops along the Royal Mile towards the castle. You can pick up some great quality scarves. Miss Katie Cupcake, which is also on Cockburn Street, sells great little knick-knacks, perfect if you want a pretty little, something different, gift.

3. Stop and Shop at Armstrongs and Co.
Down on the Grassmarket is a fab vintage shop. For vintage shop, it is organised well and the items are labelled with the date of origin. They have a wonderful selection of jumpers and fur coats. Yes, they are still essential in summer in Scotland. Sorry.

4. Pick Up A Funky Brolly.
To be honest, you should really have one on person at ALL TIMES! But if you're like me and have a habit of leaving them in the loos, go to White Stuff on George Street or Ocean Terminal for some great quirky fashion with funky brollys. And you MUST check out the changing rooms.

5. Grab a drink at the Grassmarket.
You have a whole row of pubs with outside and inside seating. Perfect for our unpredictable weather.  Shopping is thirsty work and you need to rest your heels.

Until Next Time...

  1. Great post! I'm only about an hour from Edinburgh on the train and have only been a handful of times, the last time being 3 years ago so I'm determined to try and get there this summer, will definitely keep some of these things in mind.
